I'm of Miles's parents generation so this was quite a strange thing to watch for me - the first time I've ever seen another Afrikaans nonbinary or trans person in any kind of media at all. Talking Afrikaans and fluidly switching to English just like I do! OMG I can't explain how amazing this was to watch.

Miles's mother seems like a really interesting person too. Flawed! But honest and facing up to her flaws, or at least, I thought so.

Miles's father keeps calling him a trans man in this film, but Miles calls himself nonbinary and uses "he/him" pronouns which is why I described him as trans masc nonbinary.
