Dog Soldiers (2002)

A squad of British soldiers on training in the lonesome Scottish wilderness find a wounded Special Forces captain and the remains of his team.

The savage attackers of the special ops team return, and the men are rescued by Megan, a zoologist who identifies what hunts them as werewolves. Without transport or communications, the group is forced to retreat to a farmhouse to wait for the full moon to disappear at dawn.

Neil Marshall's feature film debut stars Michael McKid, Sean Pertwee, and Liam Cunningham.

Great action-horror flick with maybe the best werewolf suits since the Howling!

I watched this last night and enjoyed it quite a bit. I hope Neil Marshall gets his shit together again.

I wish I could interview Megan because I have many questions, young lady! Mainly about how she thought she was going to escape this, I guess.

The Megan twist pisses me off because it just makes no sense. I love the rest of the movie, but that always annoys me.

Marshall had such a promising start between this and the Descent. My friend who saw it for the first time this weekend couldn't get over the "Onion Knight" AKA Liam Cunningham being a villain.

Dog Soldiers is top tier werewolf horror for me, especially in a contemporary vein. It is really good! It holds up!

Aside from The Descent, Neil Marshall's career is pretty variable after this.

Thirding the "what happend to Neil Marshall" thoughts. This was fun. The Descent was great. And then his quality just fell off a cliff.

I have strong feelings about his attempt at Hellboy and none of them are good.

This script really had to work hard for that one Matrix joke.

One positive note for Marshall, he did direct the Game of Thrones episode 'Watchers on the Wall', where Jon Snow leads the defence of the wall against the wildlings. That was pretty good.
