Doom Patrol: Portal Patrol

Our heroes' crosstime quest for their lost immortality leads to unexpected reunions.

I think this is the one episode this season that comes closest to recapturing the show at its best. There's only one episode left, and to be honest I hope it wraps up Immortus and *sigh* the Butts in the first ten minutes or so, because I'd like to see a lot less of that stuff and a whole lot more of this stuff. Fingers crossed.

...Yes, I just realized I said I want to see less butt stuff. For once, at least, that's true.

You're right in that this felt more like a proper DP episode.

I'll admit to being a bit confused about the situation with Larry and his past Negative Man doppleganger. When was that supposed to have happened? Wouldn't he have known that the energy being could take over his body like that? That kind of thing, but then I decided it didn't matter so I should just watch to see what happens.

It was nice to see the Chief and Willoughby return. I wasn't expecting that.

I'm ashamed to admit that I had no idea until a little while ago that the actress that plays Rita, April Bowlby, is the same actress who had a recurring role on Two-and-a-half Men as Allan's ditzy actress girlfriend Kandi. (I may have posted this before, if so apologies.) I never made the connection in my head.

I think it's probably a good thing the show is coming to an end. It feels like it has run out of steam, and I'd rather it go out on a couple of stronger episodes so fingers cross that the butts stay away for the finale.

This has been a repeating motif in the series… a few episodes of wheel spinning, and then a tour de force character-focused episode that was set up by all the wheel spinning. Last season I could barely make it through three deathly Sisterhood of Dada episodes, but they were followed by the excellent Subconscious Patrol.

Cliff, whose body Niles rebuilt, being the reason Niles is paraplegic is an interesting bow to put on Niles’s story—having to drink the forgetting potion must mean that for the rest of his life, he had no idea how it had happened.
