Til Death Do Us Blart: Til Death Do Us Blart 2023

Can't stop, won't stop, #Deathblart The Blart quintet are back for a ninth year. Nothing will stop them from their annual watch and review of BP:MC2, not an industry-wide strike, not a lack of enthusiasm for the film.

In this refreshingly straight-laced approach at the material, all five reviewers have remained (mainly) sober and checked in. This mentally sharp environment has allowed for a Griffin-Timbo mindmeld to explore the possible religious and philosophical ramifications of Paul fighting a bird in a fake garden setting to piano music. Travis is attempting to explain to his child that this movie IS a comedy. Guy is quick to defend the Toyota Yaris. And Justin has once again figured out a way to turn the watch into a joyful experience while watching shirtless in bed. Please enjoy, season greetings to one and all and do consider purchasing a shirt or poster this year because all the proceeds go to the First Nations Development Institute.

Current hosts: Justin, Travis and Griffin McElroy, Tim Batt and Guy Montgomery

This was a fun one! I almost wished i had waited for the video version to be posted, but i was having too much fun listening while cooking in the morning. My 4yo was nearby and kept asking what i was laughing at.

It was the first year when i could distinguish and identify Tim and Guy’s voices (i hear the difference but couldn’t remember which was which despite listening to a fair amount of TWIOAT), thanks in large part to Guy Montgomery’s Guy Mont Spelling Bee, which is a delight.

Simply cannot believe next year will be a decade of this silly thing. It’s a great surprise every year when it pops up and I always enjoy re-listening to older episodes. This year was no different.

Current hosts Love this.

Happy Blartsmas everyone!

Not many gimmicks this year, just a straight up watch that the boys rather enjoyed. Glad to see the garden of contemplation continues to be a deep vein of content.

I loved the idea of going to Vegas for the decade anniversary. I really hope they manage to arrange something big for next year. It's a true milestone for this very, very dumb idea that I love far more than I should.

There are very few reasons why I would ever go to Las Vegas willingly, but a live Blartmas would absolutely be one of them.

2015: This film sucks (Travis: I made a list of the 11 times I laughed).
2016: I remember this film being OK? No, this film SUCKS. Our partners refused to watch it with us. (Travis: I made a list of the 13 times I laughed).
2017: This film is actually pretty funny, also it syncs up with Dark Side Of The Moon (Travis: I made a list of the times Justin laughed).
2018: **Existential despair**
2019: HOW is this film is SO BA- wait, I think we've talked about this before. (Tim: I can only get through this film using hallucinogens).
2020: If good art is used in bad art, is the good art bad? And why is everyone walking around with guns??
2021: We can't bare to talk about the film any more so let's just have a meta-discussion about the podcast. (Travis: I laughed one time).
2022: For the love of god please let us talk about a different film! (Travis: I laughed zero times but my toddler found it hilarious).
2023: Is Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2 actually based on religious beliefs about the afterlife?? (Travis: I pre-laughed at the film the night before I watched it)

Despite having listened to DeathBlart since its inception, I watched the whole of the series of Taskmaster NZ with Guy and a few episodes of his Spelling Bee show without realising where I knew him from. It was only listening to this year's episode that it clicked.
