Emma Stone has very good comedy chops but there weren't many standouts in the show.

I did like Question Quest. That was the sort of bizarre thing that I really love.

Oh boy when they began that Mama Cass sketch I was very worried they were going to take it in a certain direction and I was very glad when they didn't.

Loved the cigarette on WU. "I'm dessert for SEX!"

How have I never heard of Noah Kahan before? I am very out of touch, that's how. He was really good, so much so that I looked him up afterwards and will be listening to more. Not sure when the last time that happened. God, I hope he doesn't turn out to be a nazi or something.

Noah Kahan isn’t mass popular at this point so I wouldn’t feel so out of touch! I just like that Spotify classifies his genre (indie folk pop) as stomp and holler!

What’s in the Kiln was a great send up of The Great Canadian Pottery Throw Down (a spinoff of the British one).

I loved Fully Naked in New York, Hard Drive Crash, Old-Fashioned Cigarette, and Diet Coke Olay!

Question Quest was the highlight for me. Everything else was just meh. Hard Drive Crash was especially bad.

WU was really weak, and I didn’t care for Old-Fashioned Cigarette at all.

Liked Noah Kahan a lot, and he seemed genuinely gleeful to be on SNL.

I think the ordering of sketches matters quite a bit. I watched the official playlist on YouTube. (Playlist order below, for posterity: )

Cold Open - George Santos: Sarah Sherman, Bowen Yang, James Austin Johnson, Mikey Day, Ego Nwodim, Andrew Dismukes, Devon Walker, Heidi Gardner
Monologue: Emma Stone, Tina Fey, Candice Bergen
Weekend Update: Michael Che, Colin Jost
Make Your Own Kind of Music: Chloe Troast, Emma Stone, Mikey Day, Andrew Dismukes, Bowen Yang
Question Quest: Michael Longfellow, Emma Stone, Heidi Gardner, Punkie Johnson, James Austin Johnson
Please Don't Destroy, A.I./Hard Drive Crash: Emma Stone, Punkie Johnson
Noah Kahan - Dial Drunk
Tree Lighting Gig/Christmas Show: Kenan Thompson, Bowen Yang, Emma Stone
What's in the Kiln?: Chloe Fineman, Heidi Gardner, Emma Stone
Weekend Update – Old-Fashioned Cigarette: Michael Longfellow
Noah Kahan - Stick Season
Diet Coke by Olay: Chloe Fineman, Ego Nwodim, Heidi Gardner, Sarah Sherman
Posters/Krissy Knox: Marcello Hernandez, Mikey Day, Kenan Thompson, Emma Stone, Ego Nwodim
Fully Naked in New York: Bowen Yang, Emma Stone, Chloe Fineman, Marcello Hernandez, Punkie Johnson, Andrew Dismukes, Chloe Troast, Sarah Sherman

"Fully Naked" killed as a closing sketch, but would make little sense as the second sketch after the monologue, with like an hour left in the show. Did the broadcast really put "Diet Coke by Olay" last? It seemed like the weakest sketch. The Mama Cass sketch was so great, and "Question Quest" was exactly the kind of twisted psychodrama I crave in my TV game show sketches.

Chloe Troast is really winning me over.

Diet Coke Olay was last in the broadcast... Considering the duration, its placement and that it lacked Emma Stone I bet that it was already produced and in the can to be used as filler.

I also thought it was pretty good.

I thought it was a pretty good episode overall. The cold open and Question Quest were definitely the highlights, plus I always enjoy checking in on Treese and his band. Only real clunkers were the PDD and poster sketches, which were just beating a marginal joke into the ground.

George Santos facing consequences is basically the opposite of the tremendous comment tweet, but it was a good (hopefully) final sendoff.

Seems like Tina Fey has become the de facto spokesperson for the 5-timers club, though it seems like the inductions are getting pretty rote. Always good to see Candice Bergen on, though.

After the posters sketch was done, I checked the clock and I remember thinking there was too much time to just go to the goodbyes, but not enough time for another sketch. That, and the fact that the host wasn't in it, makes me think it was just canned filler. I thought it was good canned filler, but nonetheless...

Noah Kahan was fine, but he mostly just made me think of other acts I'd rather see as the musical guest instead.

I appreciated that they included Carol Kaye in the Mama Cass sketch.

How have I never heard of Noah Kahan before?

He's from Orange County Vermont (and now Watertown MA)! He sort of got well-known during COVID (which is basically what Stick Season is about and got a lot of popularity online). He's been on some higher-profile touring lately and just got a Best New Artist Grammy nomination and WE'RE ALL SO PROUD (like, seriously was front page in the local newspaper).

Chloe Troast is really winning me over.

Same. She was in the Please Don't Destroy movie and was good in it.
