It's bad enough that boarding school students Samantha and Clara can't go home for the holidays, but things take a deadly turn when a murderous gang arrives on their doorstep - just in time for Christmass.

Based on the cover, description and first five minutes, I expected to be entertained by this little horror movie but not impressed. I watch a lot of horror at this point I'd say I can correctly predict plot twists maybe 60-70 percent of the time.

With this movie I was wrong. every. time. In the best way.

It's a bit gory in parts and not particularly "scary" in any jump-scare, spooky or existential way that will keep me up at night, but boy, this was entertaining. I also enjoyed that the typical uncomfortable bullying torture scene was paid back in full by the end.

I'm game for a buddy cop-style sequel, quite honestly.

Curious to know what others thought.

Just watched this now, and I agree with your take. I know the point of FanFare is to discuss the movie, so spoilers are not supposed to be a concern, but since this just came out I’m going to be coy. More interesting and enjoyable than I was expecting when I put it on, and some great performances from the two youngest cast members.

I watched this based on your review kittensyay and completely agree! Going in blind was the right choice. Some slightly wobbly special effects aside, I thought this was really clever and fun.

This is the kind of pretty good, little bit of flair, some nice twists indie horror that Shudder used to scoop up one or more of every month. After a bit of a lean year comparatively (though not witghout some great ones), this was a treat.
