As a regular bowler who has seen all of the cheesy animations they play after your shot, I feel seen.

Also I once attended a presentation by the founders of Twitter that was exactly like that acting class. ("How do I get traffic to my new website?" "Try being a viral phenomenon with a huge injection of venture capital.")

The acting class could have been a bit more cutting, but the whole "Auditions? You have to do that?!" thing was still pretty good.

I liked a lot of the sketches and I think this was an above average episode. The host was meh, but he was a good palimpsest for the cast, who I think were the real shiners here. The Bachelorette, Club Shay Shay (ahead of the curve!), Bowling, AA, and the Acting Class all seemed as good as anything this season.

That opening monologue! I hope this is the start of them going hard against Trump, doing their bit to show how ludicrous and dangerous he is.

Elordi was decent and while I prefer hosts with comedy chops, at least he could read the lines and seem natural, so that's good enough for me.

Bowling was great. Those animations are so weird and I liked how long they took with a few of the jokes. Plus they all seemed to be having fun with it.

Alaska Airlines was pretty funny and Acting class was great.

They lost me when they pulled a random card out of the "we have a hot host" bowl of ideas for AA Stud. It wasn't funny or original. I've seen too many vulnerable people chased around actual AA meetings for sex and 'finding' two beers for the guy who is there for help is a bad joke. I know it's comedy and I should lighten up, but it's hard when this is life or death stuff for some of us. There is good addiction/AA/recovery comedy and I really enjoy it when I see it. This was not it.

I don't know Reneé Rapp from anything else but she was great and it did make me want to see Mean Girls.

My unexpected Six Degrees of SNL: I was in the same study abroad program as the woman playing the sign language interpreter in the bowling sketch.

Hiring an actual ASL interpreter for a silly throwaway gag in a weird sketch is SNL at its best.

Hitting the host is hot button 4 times in one night (monologue, short kings, AA stud, Acting Class) less so. I think I read someone on the AV Club pointing out that is the kind of joke/reference that you can make once per show. It looses impact when you keep going back to the well.

Reneé Rapp was pretty fantastic in The Sex Lives of College Girls. The first season is very much worth your time.

I don't think I'd seen Jacob Elordi in anything before, and in the monologue he's standing alone so it's hard to gauge his height there, but as soon as I saw that he wasn't among the bachelors at the start of the sketch I basically predicted the entire rest of the sketch.

Also, thanks to AV Club for explaining the significance of the Rachel McAdams cameo because I am terrible at figuring out that sort of thing.

I guess the Please Don't Destroy sketch mentioned in the opening credits was cut for time.

Jacob Elordi is/was a brooding cipher in Euphoria. I hadn't realized he was that tall so they took pains to film him and others that didn't emphasize that.
