Started watching this - it's fun, though some scenes are a little squeam inducing. David Thewlis makes a great Fagin, with a good mix of charm and sleaze.

I enjoyed this much more than I thought I would! It was fun and charming, and I appreciated the occasional digs about how terrible British colonizers are.

We enjoyed it.

One thing that made me happy, was how much of a Sydney show it is. That is the real colonial NSW Government House they are using, and I think they are using a real colonial Sydney hospital building as well. The bush is proper Dharug country with the sandstone boulders and everything. The duel looks like it was fought on the cliffs between Botany Bay and Maroubra.

It pained me a lot in "The Good Place" that they supposedly spent a year in Sydney, but the only set location was a bar that could have been anywhere. Meanwhile, I came away having learned a whole lot about Jacksonville.
