[TRAILER] When the kingdom's most wanted-and most charming-bandit Flynn Rider hides out in a mysterious tower, he's taken hostage by Rapunzel, a beautiful and feisty tower-bound teen with 70 feet of magical, golden hair. Flynn's curious captor, who's looking for her ticket out of the tower where she's been locked away for years, strikes a deal with the handsome thief and the unlikely duo sets off on an action-packed escapade, complete with a super-cop horse, an over-protective chameleon and a gruff gang of pub thugs.

Starring the voices of Mandy Moore, Zachary Levi, Donna Murphy, Ron goddam Perlman, Brad Garrett, Richard Kiel, M.C. Gainey, Jeffrey Tambor, Paul F. Tompkins, Laraine Newman.

Directed by Byron Howard, Nathan Greno. Produced by Roy Conli Aimee Scribner. Executive Produced by John Lasseter, Glen Keane. Written by Dan Fogelman. Based on "Rapunzel" by the Brothers Grimm.

Tangled spent six years in production at a cost that has been estimated at $260 million, which, if accurate, would make it the most expensive animated feature film ever made and one of the most expensive films of all time.

89% fresh on Rotten Tomatoes.

It's on Disney + obviously. JustWatch listing.

I'm continuing to entertain myself by posting very popular movies that have somehow escaped being on FanFare.

So more than a year ago I started a "project" to watch every* Disney animated theatrical movie and it is never-ending.

I liked this more on rewatch. It is strong on charms and while the songs aren't much, they're fun. Mandy Moore is very cute as Rapunzel and her chemistry with Flynn/Eugene is sweet. Also, horse cop Maximus is the best.

I resisted watching this for a while and it's never going to be my favorite Disney movie but I liked it more the second time.

*"Every" omits any live-action animated/hybrids and sequels, other than Rescuers Down Under.

I still sing the Mother Knows Best song from this movie when I'm messing with my kids.

2nding the "i sing mother knows best to the kids" comment. An absolute banger by all accounts.

Tangled, along with the The Emperor's New Groove, is a film I've found gems in on re-watching. So if you were lukewarm on it the first time around maybe give it another go.

And to think, after all that, all it rates at Disney World is a themed bathroom.

I was very pleasantly surprised by how good this was when it came out, and it's held up on subsequent viewings. It's easy-breasy, funny (I agree that Maximus is the real star), and the chemistry is great.

Same as CheesesOfBrazil, my wife and I went to Disney World and saw Rapunzel's tower, headed over and... yeah, it's just themed bathrooms. [sad trombone]

However, in the gardened area around the bathrooms, there are a bunch of hidden Pasquals you can hunt for. They're surprisingly hard to find for being out in the open. Their paint jobs really blend them in.

+1 on "Mother Knows Best" - the reprise of course. Such a good villain!

Oh and if you can: watch in 3D. There's THREE scenes in this one movie that I haven't yet seen bested:

- the bursting dam (water is hard and this water LEAPS AT YOU!)
- when her hair goes magic (either of the later scenes)
- and of course the lanterns going up was practically why the invented 3D moviemaking
