This movie is a mess.

The most interesting aspect to me is that Robert's cats are named Yon and Mu, which are the names of Junji Ito's cats
featured in Junji Ito's Cat Diary: Yon & Mu. I kept waiting for that to be some kind of punchline, but it was just ... there.

I'm not sure if this was meant to be a funny story played for horror or a horror movie played for laughs. I get the tone it was trying to get to but it failed in every aspect.

(I have a complicated relationship with the original short story, too, as well as its history.)

I'm disappointed that this just missed coming out forty years after Cat People (1982), and eighty years after Cat People (1942). If it had come out in '22, I would have been compelled to watch it, because how could you not? As it stands, I'll probably give it a miss.

Casting Nicholas Braun after the allegations against him was both unfortunate and weirdly appropriate, in a meta way. I refuse to watch this because of the Braun allegations.

Well, that's unfortunate. I guess instead I will watch Isabella Rossellini as a shrimp mating with other shrimp in https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A-CA9CNk_Xc
