Just as when CM Punk made his debut in Chicago, Tony Khan has done everything possible to hint that Mercedes Moné is making her AEW debut tonight in "Boss-ton" without actually saying it. He's even booked a whole card full of great matches to distract us!

Tonight's announced card:

AEW World Championship Match: Samoa Joe (c) vs. Wardlow

The "New" Elite -- Kazuchika Okada & Matthew and Nicholas Jackson -- will face Eddie Kingston, PAC & Penta El Zero Miedo in a trios match

Darby Allin will have his farewell match against "Switchblade" Jay White

Willow Nightingale (with Stokely Hathaway) vs. Riho

Chris Jericho & Hook will tag together to face Bishop Kaun & Toa Liona of Gates of Agony

...and somewhere in here Mercedes Moné better show up I SWEAR TO GOD TONY

She is back and she is BEJEWLED. And it was smart to frontload the “CEO” iconography so the crowd has no confusion on what to chant.

Wardlow vs. Joe was tough but effective, the story I got from it is that Wardlow was just too over-confident. He knew he was stronger, thought he could simply outmuscle the champ, but wound up wearing him like a backpack as Joe choked him out and rode him down to the ground.

Someone pointed out to me that the trios match is essentially a restating of the Elite vs. Death Triangle with a few members swapped. Okada pins Eddie through shenanigans.

A part of me dreads that eventually Okada will probably take Eddie’s titles, but hey, hey didn’t sign him to not put gold around his waist.

Tonight’s a night for people wiping out on big sentons to the outside: first Darby full-sending a coffin drop and missing Jay White, then Willow dumping out a missed cannonball against Riho.

I had thought Mercedes would show up to get a beating in on Willow post-match, but surprise! She backs her up against Julia Hart and Skye Blue. I suppose a play for the TBS Title is coming?
