Coupling: Size Matters Rewatch
February 18, 2015 5:00 AM - Season 1, Episode 2 - Subscribe
After an out of control pause during a phone call, Susan invites Steve to dinner, offering to cook. While discussing foreplay, Jeff warns Steve of the perils of falling into the Sock Gap and also to examine Susan’s remote controls. Sally tries to overcome her aversion to Patrick’s political views when informed by Susan of his personal endowment, and Jeff freaks out when Sally, Steve and Jane task him with verifying this prodigy.
My only familiarity with Angus Deayton is from the days when he hosted Would I Lie To You. I don't see the attraction but supposedly the media dubbed him Mr. Sex or something. Apparently he was fired for making a joke about Jimmy Savile back in 2007/2008. Considering the horrific information that came to light about Savile, the Beeb should apologize to Deayton.

"The pause was like a third person in the conversation . . . only not saying much . . . like Patrick."
"I was just wondering, would you like to meet up sometime? Or alternatively I could never phone you again and emigrate."
"When do you take your socks off? My advice is to take them off right after your shoes and before your trousers. That's the sock gap! Miss it, and suddenly you're a naked man in socks. No self-respecting woman will ever let a naked man in socks do the squelchie with her."

I've heard that a version of that sock joke on a number of occasions but I've yet to meet anyone actually bothered by someone wearing socks in bed. Is this a thing?

Is it weird to be okay with, like, athletic socks but to think that dark, work socks on a naked guy look sort of dorky? (Because that's sort of how I feel about the sock gap.)

Jane: Ta da! I'm bisexual!
I really want those flat wine glasses from Susan's flat.
