Travel to the desert community of Sandrock and take on the role of a fledgling Builder. Use your trusty toolset to gather resources, construct machines, and turn your run-down workshop into a well-oiled production facility to save the town from the jaws of economic ruin! -- Steam

This is from the same studio which published My Time at Portia and has pretty similar vibes.

I wasn't sold on the desert setting at first, but I came to like this quite a lot. Currently I have 200+ hours in on my first (only?) playthrough, over the course of two months, and I'm still not quite done.

I like the humor in the characterizations and dialogue, and I'm glad they added the option to save whenever you want to (if I recall correctly; in Portia it saved automatically once a day, like Stardew Valley, but there was no option to save manually--not my favorite gameplay mechanic, if I'm honest).

It's been a long time since I've played Portia (almost four years ago), but Sandrock has a lot of plot. I couldn't swear that it's more plot than Portia had, but I've put in nearly 50 hours more in Sandrock than I ever did in Portia even though I think I like the setting slightly less (I just don't get very excited about deserts).

Ah neat, I've been waiting for this to come out of early access. I really enjoyed Portia, since it combined bits of some of my fave genres.
