This episode had a touch of the spinning of wheels to it, but it revealed another prong to Samaritan's attampts to examine humanity. If the chips they were making in Maple were designed to examine people physically, VAL is about getting inside people's heads. The bit with Claire setting a trap for Samaritan was telegraphed, but Michael Emerson sold his part perfectly - his internal debate about not trusting her but desperately wanting to was plain to see and wonderful to watch. Root's return was pitched perfectly as well, quick and confident. I guess her and The Machine are talking again?

The Samaritan Charter School bit was brilliant, had me laughing for days. Just perfect.

Never trust an altruist. They'll always sell you out for a higher cause.

The sales pitch was the one I was waiting for: together let's do great things.

For someone as brilliant as Claire supposedly is, she's being incredibly stupid.

The one flaw in the plot here is that I cannot believe anyone could spend more than two minutes listening to Greer without realizing he's a supervillain.
