paduasoy was kind enough to support MeFi with a donation. Their request was for six films about cats - with no cat death. I'll be using the tag #CatFilms.

This Disney remake of its 1963 film The Incredible Journey is said to have been very conscientious toward its animal stars. The 1963 film drew mixed responses for its treatment of its animal actors. The remake made a point of being much more careful.

Donate $25 or more to MeFi and you can MeMail me a request for a themed day of your own. I'll fill up the sidebar on FF with six movies that fit your theme.

Yes, this is a 90's Disney movie with celebs performing the voices of "talking animals." But it's very enjoyable in a way, combining an adorable story with some time capsule flavor for MeFites of a certain age.

I mean, this is basically the absolute epitome of safe-for-kids live action Disney of the era. Even the trailer (for fun, I linked the VHS one!) is an artifact.

Sally Field as "Sassy the Cat": Cats rule, dogs drool!

Such 1993.

I'm glad this version was good to the animals but the scene where Chance gets stung by a porcupine looks so painful. Movie magic I know but it still hurts to watch.

I still say Sassy can't breathe to my family when getting hugged, it was a movie very much in rotation when my sister and I were kids.

"I never thought anything could smell too much!" is a legit funny line for a retriever.

Me and my sister watched this a lot when we were kids too, I had no idea it was based on an earlier movie! Yeah the porcupine scene always made me cringe.
