I've saw this years ago and felt meh about it. I don't hate it, but I have no desire to watch it again either.

This is more of a makeup test than a precursor of the real thing.

Even aside from the less assured direction, the episodic nature, and the weaker script, the non-David Howard Thornton guy playing Art doesn't have half the giddy chaos of the later version.

Mostly a footnote.

As I recall, the original Art didn't like having to deal with so much make up. I just saw a reel on fb that showed the current Art the Clown make up application accelerated and it's a lot.

I heard the original Art did not enjoy acting in general and has left the field.
