Old Gods of Appalachia: Episode 71: Season Five Prologue
December 6, 2024 2:33 PM - Subscribe

Old Gods of Appalachia returns with an enticing prologue for its newest season set during the Satanic panic era of the 1970s.

Thus begins Season 5 of Old Gods of Appalachia.

As common for the show, the season begins with a prologue that is essentially a soliloquy by co-creator Steve Shell. Since OGOA provides transcripts, you can read said soliloquy here. You can also listen to the episode here, or through your podcast provider.

At the end of the soliloquy, updates from both Steve and other co-creator, Cam Collins, including a note that this season will return to the prior format of seasons 1 and 3, versus the trial framed format from Season 4 which jumped back and forth concerning the trial of Jack.

Note: For those who subscribe to The Holler or Patreon, OGOA dropped a new episode in its line of stories referred to as Familiar and Beloved. We can either incorporate those into these posts or see about creating separate if folks are interested.

Welcome back, family!

Yesssssssssssss - as someone who is giving a Thing Whose Name Sounds Like ‘Horned Head’ But Is Not tattoo serious consideration, I am so here for the new season being here on the purple.

(I also hope the hurricane relief efforts are going well - IIRC Steve was affected.)

According to an email update, the show along with the company supporting The Holler, were able to raise $7,000 for hurricane relief. I'd have to go review the Discord to know how Steve is doing, but it's my understanding from the general situation where he lives that he may have potable water again. Both Steve and Cam were affected by the destruction of the interstate and roads, as I guess they liked to meet up to work on the show and that was rendered logistically impossible short of quite wild detours - hence why we started last week and not back on Halloween.

P.S. If we have enough folks interested in the Subscriber stories of 'Familiar and Beloved' I'll see about getting that setup for discussion, too.
