Because of the many plot turns of the show, I thought it best to have an episode by episode thread. At this point though, I am writing from the perspective of someone who has seen all but the final episode. Tamara Lawrence plays the title character, whose abusive mother sent her to England from Jamaica as a child. Her mother had said that Millie’s sibling was dead, but after the mother’s death, but upon returning, Millie finds that her sibling, Hibiscus identifies as a trans woman and spends time in Kingston’s Gully. Millie’s police partner is a gay man, Curtis. The issue she starts to try to solve is a missing teenage girl.

Marlon James' novel "A Brief History of Seven Killings" is an amazing, sprawling, ambitious, imaginative and not at all brief story about a huge cast of Jamaicans over three decades, so this is a setting he knows intimately. This sounds really promising-- thanks larrybob, because I hadn't heard about it.

It's on Max (formerly HBO) if anyone's curious.
