AKA Atlantic Rim.
Once upon a time, Marvel Comics used to specialize in monster comics, with a variety of critters, including ones big enough to qualify as kaiju, romping and stomping throughout their pages. (One of them, Groot, would eventually be showcased, in a much-reduced version, in the Guardians of the Galaxy movies.) The Hulk could be seen as a transition between that and Marvel's version of the Silver Age superhero era. In this What If?, they just kept on keepin' on in that vein. A little disappointed that Fin Fang Foom didn't make an appearance; oh well.

I love Banner's logic at the very beginning: if gamma radiation made me into the Hulk, surely MORE of it will make me into NOT the Hulk! This is how you get Apex gamma beasts, people.
Why were there 2 people in the cockpit of one of the AvengerTrons? Red Guardian just stands there giving advice I guess?
To me the funniest thing about their silly Voltron upgrade is that Banner somehow created it through a software patch. Yes, just upgrading your operating system can suddenly make your machines capable of all sorts of new mechanical actions and radically change the function of every component.

I wasn't into this whatsoever, other than feeling for Sam.

Gotta admit, the "Banner goes to therapy" bit in the beginning made me tear up. Like, yes, it's really hard to process rage if you don't feel like you have a safe place to examine it.

I also wasn't impressed by the mecha. If you're going to do transforming/combining mecha, make it plausible. I want to see how they fit together. Instead, they form a horizontal line, and smoosh together, and that works somehow? No.
