We meet Rob's mom (Carrie Fisher!), who doesn't seem particularly enthusiastic about this whole thing. Rob buys a ring and is made to feel bad when he goes for the cheaper (£2,000) one.

And then made to feel worse when the ring gets peed on as he tries desperately to propose to Sharon.

His mother, her brother, her co-worker - nobody's OK with the idea, except the 2 people involved. (And me.)

Is "Catastrophy" a joke I'm not understanding?

Yeah I don't know what the deal is with that image, but the official C4 website has the right spelling.

"It's just a bit of piss", oh, that line was so sweet and loving, actually. She accepts his faults (including a pissed on ring). Love this show!
