Gravity Falls: A Tale of Two Stans

I'm hoping all this aligns exactly with my fanfic, Stan. If not, I will be very disappointed.

The two Pines brothers tell the story of their childhood, and their falling out.

Not the funniest episode ever, but I do love a good backstory. Seeing the Stans as little kids in New Jersey was great, and it was fun watching Stanley hawk stuff on 70s infomercials. And Dipper's reaction every time the journals were mentioned was great. JK Simmons was a fantastic choice for Ford, even though all I could hear was Cave Johnson for the first few minutes.

Does anyone else think Ford accidentally unleashed Bill Cipher based on what McGucket said after he went into the portal?

I don't have any brilliant observations; I just really thought this episode filled in a lot of holes sensibly. And I wondered if the twin's conversation at the end of the episode ("Will this happen to us?") was foreshadowing.

Yeah, maybe not the funniest or most amazing episode, but it didn't need to be. I thought it did a great job of catching up and giving us the back story. I wonder how the older Pines twins are going to get along in the coming episodes.

I also liked that the Pines family had a store with a business next door with a funny name (Knuckles Sandwiches), maybe as a nod to Bob's Burgers?

A pretty backstory-heavy episode but still a few good jokes, like McGuckett as Steve Jobs or the names of Stanley's business ventures.

I'm very interested to see what happens to Stanford. I'm pretty sure that the Mystery Shack is going to stay the mystery shack and that JK Simmons isn't going to become a regular cast member.
