Writing Excuses: Writing Excuses 10.28: Polytheism in Fiction, with Marie Brennan
July 14, 2015 3:34 PM - Subscribe

Marie Brennan joins us for a discussion of polytheism (and really any belief system) in our fiction.

Audiobook Pick-of-the-Week: The Winner's Curse, by Marie Rutkowski, narrated by Justine Eyre

Writing Prompt: Use the Belief System Generator, and then write a prayer that works in the belief system that it generates.

(And tangential and fun, Marie Brennan and Mary Robinette Kowal write fanfic in each other's worlds.

I do not always love the guest podcasts, but this is nice chewy stuff. I was a trifle surprised they didn't mention City of Stairs, actually (or they did and I am really *really* spacey today.)

I actually have notes for a fantasy novel that deliberately screws around with DnD 2e pantheon generator stuff. It may never get actually written, but I had more fun sketching out what being a cleric of a True Neutral deity would look like day-to-day than I have for a long time.

Ooh. I have just been on a kick of reading both Kowal and Brennan, so this is perfect timing. Thanks for posting!
