Angel

Hey! The Buffy rewatch is coming up on Season 4, and that means Angel's starting up! Let's discuss options inside!

So as I mentioned a few weeks back in a Buffy thread, I don't think I'm up for posting weekly Angel threads, at least not two a week as with Buffy. While I think the heights of the series match or even surpass Buffy, there's a lot of duds in the first 2 years I'm not sure I'm up for slogging through. But I'd love to read and watch and comment as it suits me, so if someone wants to take up that mantle, go for it!

So there's 3 options I can see:

1) Someone takes charge and posts two Angels a week starting in 2 weeks.
2) We can switch to one Buffy and one Angel a week, and I can post both.
3) We stick to two Buffys a week, ignore most of Angel and I'll just post crossover episodes as they come up.

I think I'm happiest with 1 or 3 as I don't really want to slow down Buffy for those who aren't interested in Angel.

Yeah while I enjoyed Angel, I don't have the time (nor the dvds!) to rewatch it right now, so would prefer Buffy to continue onwards. I'm happy for Angel to go on seperately if other's are interested of course.

I'd prefer option 2 myself, but I have a feeling the first season or two of Angel would result in a lot of posts without many (or any) comments. As great as it became, it was kind of a blah show until it hit its stride.

I'll take Angel, and I'll try to power through S1.

I didn't mind S1 Angel, mostly because I liked Doyle. Gunn was ok but I loathed Fred and Cordelia showing up to save the world was where I drew the line. But apparently it gets better, so I'll see how I go.

I started a personal rewatch of Angel. Made it through S1, but forgot about rewatching the rest. I was always told by a dear departed friend that I should have stuck around to S5 as it was pretty good, I hear.

I am watching it for the first time now, and it is a relief to know that it gets better, because I have been stalled out on the second half of season 2 for awhile, and I have a HIGH threshold for bad television.

Season 3 is fantastic, Season 4 is what a character describes as a "turgid supernatural soap opera" but it's satifsying if you're into heavily serialized plots, and 5 is alternately super fun and back to dismal. But the heights are so worth it.

Awesome Etrigan! I'm glad someone's willing to pick it up.

I vote keep buffy at 2x per week, otherwise it'll take more than a year to get through

I've tried once to get into Angel and got somewhere into season 2 before kind of giving up. I really only remembered two episodes that, one with Spike making fun of Angel, the other with Cordelia moving into a haunted house. Willing to give it another try if season 3 really is better.

I'd comment on Angel, since I'm already working on a personal rewatch. There's a lot of monster-of-the-week, but the early years really give Cordi a place to shine.

I got carried away a couple of months ago and binged all the way through Buffy, then watched the highlights of Angel (NZ never carried the last season at the time). So I'm looking forward to the Angel discussion so I can go back to any good ones that I missed.

I'm really just holding on for Evil Hand.
