Fullmetal Alchemist: Those Who Challenge the Sun Rewatch

Brothers Edward and Alphonse Elric arrive at Liore, where they hear about a religious leader named Father Cornello who can create miracles.
Just to clarify: this is the original FMA anime right? and not the FMA:Brotherhood remake, correct?
I remember being skeptical and bored with this first episode. Father Cornello didn't make for a interesting villain and I thought the series was going to have a lot of religion in it. Glad I stuck with it though!

Yeah, FMA evolves so much -- I gave up on the series for years after maybe episode 8, just before it got good, and only came back to it recently. Before that it's like an awards nominee for Most Standard Anime Shenanigans/Most '90s-Style Anime That Isn't From the '90s. What's brilliant about FMA, though, is how it adapts these early manga chapters and then weaves them deeply into the story's middle and end, integrating material that (I'm told) really was incidental stuff in the manga and Brotherhood.

Yes, this is the original FMA. I have yet to watch FMA:Brotherhood, it's next on the list :-)
