Scream Queens: Chainsaw
September 30, 2015 3:59 PM - Season 1, Episode 2 - Subscribe
Chanel turns Hester into her next project; Chanel No. 3 shares a secret; a surprising connection between two students is revealed.
The writing on this show is so clumsy. Grace and Zayday are investigating whether Chanel #2 is dead or not. In the next scene, after bringing Hester down all glammed out, Chanel screams at all the pledges about how two Chanels are already dead. Neither Grace nor Zayday bats an eye.
(Unless that's supposed to be a clue that they're the Red Devils.)

I noticed that too. One of the reasons why it's difficult to be invested in the central mystery is that I haven't been given any reason to trust that the writing will be strong enough to facilitate any degree of examination and clue hunting.

These guys have a style I've noticed from AHS too, where they just take a maximalist attitude towards narrative. They play with forms, but mostly scenes are like uh... sketches? Like Mr. Show, where there's a meaningless through line, but mostly it's just an excuse for one ridiculous premise after another that has caught the fancy of the writing staff. Like an icecream cone fighting a devil with a chainsaw. So, uh, yeah, I agree that it's bad for a mystery plotline.
