Serial is going back to the Adnan Syed case for a few short daily episodes about a new hearing focusing on whether his trial lawyer was negligent. In this first episode, Asia McClain takes the stand.
Yes, I totally miss season 1 so bad.

So glad to get this update.
Reminded me that the opening theme music to S1 is much more compelling than S2.
I liked the little side conversation about Sarah huddled up in a hotel closet. Funny, she must have stayed in the same hotel chain that my husband did recently, because he commented about the weird bathrobes too!

Yeah, might have been better to wait until the whole hearing is complete, but it's good to know she's there reporting on it. I read that we may not know the judge's decision for weeks, though.

I'm not surprised that Adnan seemed to have so little reaction in the courtroom. This is his 5th attempt, after all: the original trial which ended in a mistrial, the second trial which ended in conviction, the appeal which was unsuccessful, and the petition which was rejected. This is the appeal of the rejection. I remember in the very first episode of season 1 Adnan didn't seem very interested in the fact that Sarah had found and spoken to Asia; I think he said, "What's the point?" Can't say that I blame him for that attitude.

I would have preferred they waited to release this until they had a fuller update (especially not just a single day of a two-day (?) hearing).
