Judge John Hodgman: Wrecks Libris

Jeanna files suit against her husband Craig. She insists that Craig mishandles books, by dogearing the pages and using them as doorstops around the house.

I really liked this one guys -- I think having the litigants in the studio made a real difference. Any one else agree?

I'm not entirely certain that I can even listen to this one -- dogearing is a thing that reasonable people can disagree on (even though dogearers are wrong), but doorstops? We call Stephen King books that as a joke, Craig, you fucking psychopath.

I don't think I've ever come across someone who's world view is so completely foreign to me, I cannot even begin to comprehend where they are coming from.

Litigants in the studio may or may not make a difference, but if it were up to me one of these litigants would be in Guantanamo Bay!

I give the guy one week before he's dogearing books again— the whole "Well— that felt like Nancy's personal opinion rather then the official library stance" just made my heart break for his wife.

It's up to us. We need to get this guy banned from every library within 100 miles.

I'm still disturbed by this podcast. Yesterday I was at the Edward Curtis exhibit at the Portland Art Museum. They had copies of Curtis's books open in display cases and I kept picturing the corners of the pages being folded over. It was all I could think about.
