Director Stephen Chow presents the finest Chinese Mermaid Murder Comedy you'll see all year.

The cute but awkward mermaid Shan (Yun Lin) is on a mission to seduce and assassinate the vulgar entrepreneur and despoiler of the environment Liu Xuan (Chao Dng). Egging Shan on is a militant uncle who’s half-octopus (Shao Luo) while the matriarch of the mermaid clan is more of a follow-your-heart type. h/t Seattle Times

I just saw this movie on the recommendation of a friend, and it did not disappoint! I enjoyed it so much. It defies genre as incorporates elements of comedy, romance, action, and horror films, but it works.

My one complaint about the film isn't really about the film. The version I saw had pretty...crap subtitles, which at times made things confusing.
