Random thoughts:

Is killing an InHuman "god" what Lash was designed for? Unleash him!

So Daisy would have killed Mack. But with her powers, she could have killed him pretty instantly, soooo, plot hole or plot hint?

Kinda hoping Lincoln dies killing HIve, because both are sort of annoying!

Redshirts, with names! That can't be good. That better not be who dies.

Can Hive die? Could Daisy's powers tear him apart?

Everyone needs a pep talk from May.

I was hoping for more from the Kree warriors. They're just... good fighters that are stronger than humans?

Mack really doesn't understand how SHIELD works, does he? You aren't a real SHIELD agent until your partner has been turned evil by some powered person or an alien virus. Speaking of which, Mack was infected when they entered the Kree temple. Him wanting to save Daisy because he knows what it's like to have no control would have been more nuanced reasoning than "she's my partner." Though the little sister thing makes sense.

I despise ABC's marketing team.

Oh, and May... you do NOT stand back and wait until the Kree loses before you jump in and fight. You use that to your advantage so Hive has to fight on two different fronts. When multiplicity girl stands back and watches her last duplicate get destroyed, I can forgive it as a rookie mistake, but you have no excuse.

What exactly was the plan to kill Hive? Bullets - which we already know don't work - and a grenade launcher? All the hype early in the episode for bringing out the new and unique weapons, plus a glimpse of missiles rolling by, and we shoot at him with a pistol.

Considering that Jemma shot him 3 or 4 times at close blank range, you'd think they would at least use some sort of special bullets or something.

Letting the Kree weaken Hive makes sense in my book. As as the Kree was down, they attacked, it just didn't do much much. Maybe next time try acid or fire? Hive is a bunch of bits, you need to break down those pieces.

Did Daisy/Skye have a cold this episode, her voice sounded blocked up.

Would the Kree just chill in a ship for a few thousand years, just to kill inhumans who summon them?

And why is fucking Axle Whitehead in this show, still?

I'm glad they didn't kill Mac.

But, damn, John Hannah is wasted.

I quite like his character. I wouldn't be surprised if he begrudgingly joins the Secret Warriors if they still exist next season.

Although, I get the feeling that next season is going to be a sort of soft reset of this show. We've wrapped up Hydra. We'll presumably have wrapped up the inhumans. (Apparently that movie has also been postponed.) Ward will probably be gone for good.

There won't be a lot of loose threads.

(And if this is the plan, I wonder if they'll find a way to take away Daisy's powers.)

Axle Whitehead, from Australian Idol and Home And Away?

Playing the laziest Australian character since Paul Hogan?
A person who, in addition to the above, whacked it out for The Kids?

He has baggage.

Oh I have no idea who the actor is, and I'm pretty indifferent to all that. But the character is sort of fun, even if he is a walking stereotype. And let's be honest, Hunter was about as big a stereotype as you could get, but they made that work.

I might be too close to the Aussie stereotype, but he is not fun.
Until May,
May brings the fun.

The doctor is a helluva lot of fun, they should get him around.

Hive: I could just kill you and absorb the memories of how to do this.
Doctor: Uh, messy childhood, you don't want my memories.

Plus, the really wants to do what Hive wants, thinks it's some grand big deal. Villains who believe they're right for *reasons* usually are the best.

I hope Brett Dalton gets a lot of work from his time on SHIELD, 'cause he's been knocking it outta the ballpark with the various personality changes. Hive is creepy as hell and the other actors have doing good work in making their Inhuman selves creepy.

So didn't they make a point of everyone on that strike team being issued with those Shredder grenades? (Like Mac used on the Kree)

Why didn't the entire team start lobbing shredders at Ward when he was distracted by the Kree? That seems really bleeding obvious to me.

May ordered them to stand down so the plot could proceed.

So Simmons is possessed by Hive. Does that make her a surprise Inhuman?

eyeballkid:So Simmons is possessed by Hive. Does that make her a surprise Inhuman?

I was wondering that myself.. previous episodes implied he could only infect Active Inhumans (eg OkkaMcSplodeypants), not just Potentials.

....but then, Ward was (as far as we know) neither Potential nor Active. See also: AstronautBoy. So.. um?

He can infect recently dead humans and use/recreate their body. Inhumans can infected while alive.

While the bullets didn't hurt WardHive, they ruined his beautiful green coat. Clearly these agents have no idea what they're doing.

That was fun.

Stuff:
* I appreciate that Hive's control isn't the all-powerful sort seen out of Kilgrave. Him questioning Daisy's loyalty and playing games continues to give him a more cult leader feel that I'm digging.

* I'm also in the 'Brett Dalton is incredibly talented and should get tons of work' camp - the whole thing with Grant Ward being wooden in S1 reminds me of nothing so much as Anna Torv in Fringe.

* I have no idea why they didn't at least try to splinter bomb or missile Hive. They had both, and they did indeed know bullets wouldn't do the job. If I were Coulson, I would've ended that mission with a no-holds-barred air strike. (Daisy's strong enough to be an Avenger, and she's just the *help*. These are desperate times.)

* I'm also not sure why Hive was afraid of the Kree Reapers. If they'd brought some energy weapons to the party, or that cool amnesia hammer the one guy hit Sif with, maybe? But these guys were clearly mooks. (I don't understand why they don't have some kind of 'unravel Inhumans at the genetic level' tech going on. Kree are supposed to be super high tech, IIRC.)

* I figure Daisy didn't kill Mac because she still feels for him - she was looking to hurt him, not end him.

* I love the mad scientist guy too. His interactions with both Hive and Daisy were priceless. "If you had anywhere else you needed to be, that'd be fine." That was great.

I'm confused about how this ties into the next cpt america movie. I thought that's what they were building up to this episode, because the movie drops this week. But instead.... it seems a little of this, a little of that, a little plot here and a little there, nothing major.

Anyone have non-spoiler tips for that? Will next week's episode tie things into the movie?

As far as i know, the show and aren't affecting each other that much.

I think the distinction between Hive infecting (an inhuman) and possessing (a dead corpse which has been reanimated) is important. In order for Jemma to be infected, she'd need to be an Inhuman (which there isn't evidence of her being) and it seems like Hive can't possess multiple people (or that seemed to come up with the doctor).

Daisy was the friend who just found Jesus and wants all her friends to join the Jesus parade.

MINOR SPOILERS

There is ONE line in Civil War that talks about, maybe, AoS/DD/JJ whoever, if you tilt your head, in the scene where Thunderbolt Ross is griping at them for causing all the deaths (that one from the advert).

Otherwise, AoS is flying solo.

so is HIVE the inhuman? Or is hive a.... space alien/parasite/virus that can inhabit inhumans? If the latter, who was the first inhuman that got controlled? And where did it come from? If the former, how can gaining powers = growing a parasite?
posted by rebent at 5:24 AM on May 5, 2016

HIVE seems to be the first Inhuman.

ok yes, but HIVE also seems to be.... a parasite? Did a human turn into a parasite? like, did that hunter dissolve into little brain bugs or something?

This MCU wiki page has some info on Hive. Yes, he is an amalgamation of micro organisms at this point, and he was created to control other Inhumans, so they wouldn't rebel. OOPS.

I have no idea why the team isn't trying to dunk him a tub of acid or something similar.

So are the comments about Simmons above in reference to next week's preview? Or what?

Not that I really care. I find it difficult to maintain interest while watching this show, lately.

When their entire plan to kill Hive was "shoot him a few more times, and then lob a single RPG at him and hope that works"... COME ON. The guy survived thousands of years on Bluniverse. He's resilient. Hydra thought he was a demigod. Sure, maybe he's vulnerable to an RPG, we certainly didn't know going in that he was completely immune, but there's no Plan B, seriously?

Maybe bring some actual firepower next time. You're like a watered-down SCP Foundation, you have to have Weapons Man Was Not Meant To Wot Of, surely.

Also why did they leave Daisy behind? Afraid to bring her with?

Anyone have non-spoiler tips for that? Will next week's episode tie things into the movie?

The corporate bigwigs at Marvel/Disney have made the (terrible, IMO, if understandable) decision to have things cross down, but not up. Movies are at the top of the pyramid, TV shows are below that, comics below that, and videogames somewhere around or below comic books. So the movies will never reference events of the TV show, but the TV show will reference events in the movies (we'll probably see a post-Civil-War episode here in a week or two); likewise the comics reference the TV show but never vice versa. (Speaking of comics referencing the TV show, I dunno if he's getting work, though I agree he should be, but Brett Dalton's enjoying some other perks of the role.)

I'm thinking so, unless they have one of those ACTU stasis cells laying around. (They can't use conventional restraints because she'll tear through that stuff like tissue, and there's no way they patched the security on their Inhuman cells yet, leaving no way to hold her while she's awake.)

Brett Dalton's enjoying some other perks of the role.

Hah. That would've been pretty great on the show.
