Veep: Mother
May 18, 2016 7:01 PM - Season 5, Episode 4 - Subscribe
Selina and her team put her political campaign on hold to go to Selina's hospitalized mother as the recount in Nevada goes awry.
I found this one to be uncomfortably edging towards drama - not for long, obviously (never for long) - but the scenes in the hospital were both funny and heartbreaking.
I wasn't sure how to interpret Selina's pullback from saying something genuine to her mother - the article I liked above says she pulls back to avoid any emotion, but I interpreted it more like, when the relationship is not good, there's not much there to say at the end that's meaningful *and* genuine.
Anyways, many funny bits as well, one of the more daring episodes.
Loved Tom's line to Selina as he shook her hand at the funeral service: "I _hated_ my father."

This episode had me thinking of this season's House of Cards plotline. And now I'd like to see Selina Meyer swap jobs with Claire Underwood for an episode.
