Hannibal season 4 rumors?

So every so often I google 'Hannibal season 4' and today there were a couple articles...

Christian Today (???) article

Cinema Blend article

There are some other articles but they are the same thin rehashes of the same tidbits.

Is there hope?

Bryan Fuller's running American Gods now, and ramping up with Star Trek after that. I just can't see anyone involved really chomping at the bit to return to it by the time he frees up a little in 2017.

For now though, we have the definitive Hannibal Season 4 already.

That Cinema Blend article was interesting. I'd always read that Hannibal was presold in so many countries and at such a rate that it seemed inconceivable to me it would end. I mean, I can understand it leaving NBC, but if the producers (as I had heard) were in the black before receiving a nickel from NBC, it would hard to imagine they couldn't find a home for it somewhere. The answer, according to that article, seems to be that streaming rights and air rights were sold separately, making acquisition of the show by a third party somewhere between unlikely and impossible.

Hopefully, some of those options will expire and then maybe Fuller can revisit this later, though, as others have pointed out, he's pretty busy for the time being.

I haven't really been paying attention since Hugh Dancy is doing his new series and Mads has been tied up with Rogue One. But I just love knowing that Fuller already has the story so he'd be ready to go when the stars align.

Amazon's streaming rights expire in August 2017, I think, so that is when Brian Fuller can start talks in earnest with interested parties. It can't come soon enough.

It's good to have something to look forward to in life.

There is always hope! I'm seeing some adorable stuff on Tumblr right now, highlighting how much Bryan Fuller still loves Hannibal and is making sure the show stays visible. He's brought an exquisite 12-inch Hannibal doll to his panel at Comic Con and is taking goofy pictures with him, and responded to someone's (an interviewer? fan? don't remember off the top of my head) statement about wanting to see more Hannibal "in the next 40 years" with something along the lines of "40 years? how about in the next two years?"

If you're looking to scratch your Hannibal itch, might I point out that TeePublic is having a $14 sale on Hannibal t-shirts right now? I keep telling myself I do not need another shirt, but boy oh boy do I like the Will Graham Encephalitis Clockface, and the Calvin and Hobbes-style Will and Wendigo shirts.

Yeah, I love that Calvin and Hobbes shirt but I feel like the "will and hannibal" caption would make it hard to explain to outsiders, and it would be better without a caption.

I'd really like to have a Hannibarbie, does anyone know if that comes with lots of little outfits so you can dress and undress it?

WE WOULD LOVE THIS TOO, BRYAN --

RT: We’re getting closer to August 2017, when you can think about the rights to Silence of the Lambs. [Which is not why August is significant, dumb interviewer. That's when the Amazon streaming rights to the series expire, duh.] Would you ever consider continuing Hannibal with different original stories should Silence of the Lambs not work out?

Fuller: Oh yeah. There is a fourth season that had nothing to do with Silence of the Lambs. The most creatively satisfying experience I’ve had thus far working with actors were with Mads Mikkelsen and Hugh Dancy on Hannibal. Both of those actors were so insightful with their characters and so helpful to me and helping me understand those characters. I would love to continue writing for those two gentlemen forever and ever and ever and ever and ever and ever and ever and ever and ever. And ever.

@BryanFuller: Conversations couldn't start until 2 years after the final airing of season 3. @neoprod has started those conversations. This takes time.
