Expecting Someone Taller

All Malcolm Fisher did was run over a badger. Unfortunately the badger turned out to be Ingolf, last of the giants. With his dying breath he reluctantly gave Malcolm two gifts of power and made him ruler of the world.

I've never heard of such a book before! I'm getting a Robert Asprin vibe from it, and maybe not a little Dirk Gently. I'll be curious to hear what other people thought of it, as I'm always looking for new (to me) comic fiction.

OOOh, I adored this book! It's been over a decade since I last read it, but Tom Holt holds a special place in my heart that hasn't been fully filled. His "Flying Dutch" was also a lovely romp.

I decided long ago (and haven't yet needed to update) that if offered a classic three wishes style genie then one of my wishes would be "The Tarnhelm, as described in the book Expecting Someone Taller"
I have actually only read one other of his books I think, I'll have to pick up Flying Dutch.

I was debating whether to do this or a Robert Aspirin book next in SSFF_club. Aspirin is next. (although everyone can post books now) It's definitely in the same vein as Aspirin.

I haven't read this in ages but I remember liking it a lot back in the day. Now I wonder where my copy wandered off to.

Had almost forgotten Tom Holt: very good, very funny. Thanks for reminding me of this!
