Rose Quartz might not be Dumbledore.
Rose Quartz might be Snape.

I now have more questions than I did before the episode.

Despite the traumatic ending, I think this might have been my favourite episode so far. Does Navy have a crush on one of the Gems, or was that sweat just from the stress of being put on the spot?

A lot of people read Pearl's reaction to the revelation that Rose shattered Pink Diamond as horrified.. but to me she just looked shocked, like she didn't know.
For some reason it definitely solidified for me the idea that Pearl was once Pink Diamond's Pearl.

Maybe breathing is just a habit Steven picked up from his dad.
The fact that this comes out immediately following Jasper seriously hinting at Rose shattering Pink Diamond makes me think that there's a bit more to come. Maybe this is where we find out Rose had feet of clay. Maybe we get Rose's side of it, and what she thought it was willing to shatter a gem over. I wouldn't be surprised if Steven has some kind of near death experience where he gets access to some of the gem's memories.
Pearl definitely looked shaken by the revelation. Though, I honestly kind of wonder if Pearl had a hand in it. Pearl was there before Garnet, and she was around when Rose's rebellion was considered dangerous enough that a new Diamond had come to earth with a precognitive hit squad. Pearl's sense that she's special, that her relationship with Rose is deeper than anyone else's might come from that. She was there at the beginning, when Pink Diamond was broken.
The fact that rose bubbled Bismuth and more or less erased her from history just keeps getting worse and worse doesn't it? This being Steven Universe I doubt it'll go super dark. Still.

... that could've gone better.

I think that's where this is going too.

Oh, I read both Pearl and Garnet's reactions as "Oh shit, we did NOT want Steven to find out this way."

I mean the show is named Steven Universe. Title characters don't die. (curse my best friend for ever pointing this out to me. I lived in suspenseful bliss until she did)
That said, I have heard the "I can't believe Steven is fucking dead." all over the internet. Is it in reference to a meme?
> ... that could've gone better.
Aw, I think that went exactly as great as it should have, given the characters involved and circumstances.

I liked the little gesture of Peridot clutching the elbow of Lapis when "Jasper" asks them if they want to be captured too.

Hehe. To clarify: I wouldn't argue with the motivations or actions of any of the characters in the episode. It all made perfect sense. Amethyst didn't want to hand Jasper over because Yellow Diamond was never going to fix her - Jasper's antics on Earth would've left her in 'recycle' territory, maybe even 'shatter.' There's no way Homeworld can fix corruption, and no way Amethyst was going to call Jasper 'sister' one minute and abandon her like that the next.
It was more that this was tragic - everything they were doing was completely in character, but also doomed no matter which way the Moon mission went. Yellow Diamond was never going to fall for Amethyst's scheme. I just expected it to fail in a more mundane way, not with Steven in accidental mortal peril. (I mean, it's unlikely the Rubies even knew that could hurt him.)
I have no idea why anybody thinks this'll actually kill Steven though. It's not that kind of show. It's possible he could die in the finale via heroic sacrifice or something, but he's got plot immunity until the endgame. (And even that would surprise me, given the motivation behind the show in the first place.)

Yeah, I'm on board with "near-death experience that lets him talk to Rose" but also... Lion.

Well, does he *need* air? Because there won't be much - if any - for him to bubble in with him.

He could make a huge bubble, then shrink it until the air inside reached a comfortable pressure/temperature.

Gathering from his adventures in Lion's mane, yes.

Pearl was definitely Pink Diamond's Pearl. That's why she had the spacesuit with that emblem. Also she's a "fancy" one, just the kind a Diamond would have. Top-of-the-line. Possibly even a experimental prototype, or rare type of Pearl.
Rose was PD's soldier--we know that. We know Eyeball believes she saw Rose shatter PD (assuming there's no bait and switch on that). I would like to hear more of that story from Eyeball.
The question is why and how. Why did Rose do it, and how did she do it? Was Pearl involved? Was she the reason? If someone had shattered a diamond to protect me, I'd be pretty devoted to them. But that almost seems too cliche. I would like it better if Rose did it for some larger goal, or during an argument over ideas, and Pearl helped or joined her either before or during that fight.
It seems like it would be hard/impossible to shatter a Diamond by accident, unless they are much more vulnerable that is generally believed.
A lot hinges on what kind of Diamond PD was. Nice? Awful? Zealous? Xenophobic? Blue and Yellow don't seem to have a lot of redeeming qualities, and we know nothing about White. What was Pink like?

Given what we've seen of the pearls that belong to Blue and Yellow diamond, as well as Pearl's color scheme in the early scenes of The Answer, I'm pretty sure Pearl must have belonged to White Diamond. (Though how she got drawn into Rose's rebellion, I have NO idea.)

Oh my.
Steven will bubble himself, but he can also float -- so he might be able to enforce some gravity and bring himself back down to the moonbase, or to Earth.
I wonder if the version of Rose, Bismuth and the Breaking Point isn't quite what we were led to believe. Maybe Bismuth actually shattered Pink Diamond, or maybe Rose did herself and in her regret she blamed Bismuth?
