The Adventure Zone: Ep. 46. The Eleventh Hour - Chapter Six

If our boys want to get out of this time-locked quagmire, they're going to need some divine intervention -- and the only way to get this particular god to play ball is to get up to no good. Let's hope that big wheel doesn't stop turning on this rotation, yeah? Magnus hurls a friend. Merle does horse stunts. Taako gets the gold.

This was an excellent episode. The bank robbery was just total slapstick, and it ended on a genuine cliffhanger. Kudos to Griffin, who has really come in to his own as a storyteller.

Yeah, that was great - and geez, Taaco has turned into a pretty amazing wizard. He basically carried the whole team from start to finish in this episode. Remember when his shtick was that he was the idiot of the bunch?

This might have been my favorite episode ever, certainly my favorite in this arc (which is, itself, my favorite arc in the show so far.) And the music for this episode was SO GREAT! Reminded me of the Bastion soundtrack a bit.

This episode was just straight up amazing. Even the Jumbotron!

I'm re-listening to the older episodes (because sometimes, on my commute, I don't have the brainpower required to listen to something new!) and, hmm. Remember in that last Crystal Kingdom episode, at the very end, when they're listening to that conduit-that-used-to-be-Maureen deliver a prophecy?

I saw all of existence all at once. I saw a dark storm, a living hunger devouring it from within. But I saw a brilliant light heralded by seven birds, flying tirelessly from the storm. I saw seven birds: the Twins, the Lover, the Protector, the Lonely Journal-Keeper, the Peacemaker, and the Wordless One.

The... Lonely Journal-Keeper?

Just sayin'.

Okay (and I don't know how much of this gets spelled out in the next ten or so episodes, so I'm just spitballin' here) but if these are all allies the Boys will find in their search for the relics:

The Twins: Not sure, but maybe the Meat Monsters from Murder on the Rockport Limited? One of them did toss Jenkins off the back of the train before he got his hands on the Occulus, after all.
The Lover: Pretty certain this is Hurley.
The Protector: Maybe Killian for her aide in Here There Be Gerblins?
The Peacemaker: No idea
The Wordless One: No idea

And no clue if any of these are supposed to refer to anyone in The Crystal Kingdom arc itself.

Relistening to things now and won't comment on my previous comment what with spoilers and all, but this has to be on the shortlist of best TAZ episodes ever. Like WidgetAlley says, best episode of the best arc (or tied for best with Petals to the Metal, maybe.) Taako just kills it throughout this, but Magnus and Merle expand their repertoires in keeping Roswell at bay, and Justin's resigned anger at getting Ren out of the bank but in a way that made her feel betrayed by Taako just killed me.

I'm writing having finished the lost century arc and it's interesting to see this list and know exactly who is on it.
