Fear the Walking Dead: Grotesque
August 31, 2016 8:30 AM - Season 2, Episode 8 - Subscribe
Nick's steadfeast search for answers leads him into a deadly dog-eat-dog landscape. A dark piece of his past is uncovered.
Not so much with the "fear" and the "dead", but this episode certainly had plenty of "walking".
I can't decide what made me roll my eyes harder; Nick walking away from a perfectly good container that he could have used to collect water, or the cartel guy getting eaten because he decided to clumsily reload his pistol instead of calmly walking in the opposite direction from the zombie horde.

The other one that killed me was Nick sleeping on the ground *beside* a vehicle he could have used for shelter, (either inside or on top), thus those dogs getting the drop on him.
Apart from that... I actually liked this one, to the fullest extent one can like a FTWD episode. Nick's increasing desperation was good to see. I like post apocalyptic fiction better when it really turns the knife on stuff like, 'hey, what do we do without water?' I was glad to see him hurling when he tried to eat the cactus and so on.
This was *so close* to being good.

I thought that was bit of a Chris McCandless moment.

Ooh, nice catch. I can see that being an influence on Nick's story. Maybe with a touch of Grizzly Man as well.

I actually really liked this episode. Probably the best one this show (FTWD) has produced. And I hate this guy. But they relied on the story to tell itself, and it was brutal in spots, and I liked that a lot of it felt like it should feel. I stopped after this one, because I'm pretty sure the rest of the episodes will be as terrible as the others were, and it'll remind me how awful this show is.
