Lucifer: Everything's Coming Up Lucifer
September 19, 2016 7:15 PM - Season 2, Episode 1 - Subscribe

Lucifer investigates the killing of a stand-in actress with Chloe, while also searching for his hell-escaped mother with Amenadiel.

*Coroner Ella Lopez (Aimee Garcia) joins the team.
*Dan (Detective Douche) Espinoza has been reinstated, though demoted.
*Maze returns. She's still trying to figure out her place in the world (but has become BFF with Dr. Linda in the meantime).
*Amenadiel's angel-time-slowing power seems to be on the fritz.
*In the end, Lucifer's mother (Tricia Helfer), Charlotte(?) collapses into his arms begging for his help.

*Case of the week - the mother did it.

Did someone choose "All Along The Watchtower" for Helfer's entrance as a Battlestar Galactica in-joke, or was it just coincidence?

I am so happy to have this stupid show back again!

I almost missed that Lucifer was back. But, the Voice is also back, which is what my wife prefers towatch on Mondays, while I escape to our bedroom to watch Gotham (which looks to be just more of the same...yawn) and Lucifer.

I totally missed that Lucifer's mother was Helfer. That's cool.

Amenadiel's angel-time-slowing power seems to be on the fritz.
Guess he's spending too much time in the mortal world?

At first I thought it was connected with Chloe--his powers went on the fritz by her desk in the squad room--but she was nowhere near the overlook, so that theory went out the window. My best guess now is that with mom on earth, the balance of good and evil/the supernatural/whatever we're calling it, is upset, creating an instability in the divinity and those who derive their powers from it.

And yes, it's good to have this show back. I was missing a light, fluffy drama over the summer.

I thought maybe it was some after-effect of his nearly-fatal injury and/or healing, but that guess makes sense.

I went to a little fan discussion panel for the show when I was at DragonCon; my first off-line chance to talk about the show, got me feeling especially enthusiastic for its return. It's funny, the moderator did a show of hands at one point to see who hated or loved Chloe - one or two people raised their hands for either option, the vast majority of us were just 'meh, she serves a necessary but thankless role in the story.' So, I like this new turn of hers, to stop actively trying to disprove or prove Lucifer's powers, I think it will make her less of a wet blanket, functionally.

I didn't realize until I read the AV Club recap that it was only supposed to have been two days of show-time since the S1 finale. I assumed it had been weeks given how much Lucifer & Amenadiel talked about Maze being gone. Sure hope the Trixie actress hasn't had a growth spurt over the summer.

Wait two days? That doesn't make sense. It seemed like much longer had passed.

I suspect Amandiel's powers on the fritz because of his feelings for Maze. Both he and Lucifer are becoming more human and that results in power losses. Maybe. It doesn't make sense that Lucifer's are specific to his love object and Amandiel's aren't.

Anyway, I sooooooo missed this show.Excited it's back. More sexy silly fun.
