Has Gregson ever just hauled off and punched Sherlock in the face? Because, I was rooting for him to do that in the last scene. Boundaries, Sherlock!

Like the AV Club recapper, I wish the show runners would prioritize the character drama over the procedural elements. They do far too much telling over showing, prime example being the friendship between Sherlock & the M.E. last season. The Holmes/Gregson dynamic has been established over the 5 seasons, so Holmes' matchmaking isn't as out of nowhere as that runner was, but having Paige's change of heart happen off-screen seems like a missed opportunity.

(Regarding this week's murder-plot -- I had actually been raising my eyebrows at how prominently the kidnapped woman's cleavage was featured during that ambulance interview, so it was nice that it turned out to be a plot point rather than just a skeezy costuming decision.)

I think Gregson recognizes and is sensitive to Sherlock's difficulties socializing within normal limits. So I don't think he'd ever punch him, though he might be sorely tempted. On the other hand, I thought Sherlock was acting very oddly in that scene. He seemed nervous in a way he rarely does, as if he knew he was crossing boundaries (not to mention acting counter to his firm convictions about marriage), but felt he had to out of friendship for Gregson and his gf.

Yeah, very nice. They forced us to look, but still we didn't see. Essence of Sherlock.
