The Flash: Monsters
November 3, 2016 9:01 AM - Season 3, Episode 5 - Subscribe

Barry battles a monster. Caitlin visits her mom. HR tries to help. Julian takes the initiative.

It seems that the writers just don't trust the audience enough not to bang us about the head a few times with the obvious stick. Caitlin's mother is COLD. Caitlin is becoming COLD. And she's becoming a MONSTER, just like the MONSTER Barry is fighting. I guess I should overlook this kind of thing because this is still a comic book show, and I'm betting a good portion of the audience is younger than the average MeFite.

I think HR got lucky in that the team is giving him a chance. How they're going to make the audience warm up to his annoying character traits, I have no idea, but I'd be willing to be it will see him put himself in harm's way to save somebody else or bring down a rogue.

I don't know what it is about this season, but somehow it feels like it's treading water. Maybe it's like Arrow last season--just cruising until the cross-overs and then attempting to regain its stride.

Don't forget the first one, it was original Moon Battle but then was renamed to Moon Battle: A New Face. The third one, Return of Justice, wasn't as good, but I think H.R. likes it.

Not really enjoying H.R. - I prefer a little more snark/superiority from my Wells. I wouldn't mind seeing some fan-art of Earth-19 movie posters though.

Don't forget that wonderful Hitchcock classic, Murder on the Titanic. I gotta wonder how much of this stuff is just Tom Cavanagh ad-libbing these riffs.

"Who did it? Who cares? We're drowning!"

A lot of the dialogue between Wells and Cisco is improvised so it would not be a surprise if Cavanagh is ad-libbing these little snippets.

There is also that great movie about gladiators, Sweaty Men.

Wells and Cisco are the only reason I watch this show. I also only begrudgingly watch it to make fun of it and laugh with my husband (and this season of Arrow picked up more so there's some crossover there.)

But they had the perfect opportunity with FlashPoint to CHANGE THE CREEPY INCEST!!
They could have made it that he was fostered by the neighbor and grew up with Joe as a father figure and Iris as a crush. They could have done ANYTHING they wanted to make it less creepy. But they not only doubled-down but like quadrupled-down on this "I wanna have sex with my sister let's talk do 'our' dad about kissing in front of him" crap. Ew. Ew. Ew.

I literally don't get it. Why?!

He could have had the same relationship with Joe and Iris growing up with a foster family across the street and it wouldn't affect the story line in any negative way.
