I loved this movie so much. One of my favorite things was that there was an Asian male romantic interest who was a little weird but mostly normal and also charming. And to me, his Asian-ness wasn't The Thing. It was just a part of who he was.

Agreed, Erwin was sooo charming and dreamy

Hailee Steinfeld's performance really made this movie for me. I think in anyone else's hands, Nadine would have just seemed irredeemably annoying and entitled.

One of my favorite little moments was Mona trying to figure out what to text back when Nadine texts "I'm safe". That was a mother/daughter interaction that really rang true to me.

I didn't enjoy this movie. There were the little things - that it felt like it was set in the 80s from the fashion, the music and the aesthetic but then they used phones so I had to keep reminding myself that it was much more present. Then there was the whole precocious too smart for her own good lead trope that I am incredibly over. Also, whatever they did with Krista and how she morphed from an interesting character in her own right in the beginning to a teen Stepford wife? No, i could not with this film.

The only person I found endearing was Erwin Kim, who was sweet and I agree that I liked that his Asian-ness was not a thing.
