Charlie Brooker's Weekly Wipe: 2016 Wipe
December 30, 2016 9:16 AM - Season 3, Episode 9 - Subscribe
Charlie Brooker takes a look back at a year that started innocently with a puddle.
Some highlights:
Following an election campaign where he alienated Mexicans, Muslims, military families, minority groups and women, Donald Trump rode to victory by appealing to just one white male (insert footage of Putin)
Planned puddle-based programming: The Great British Lake-Off, Splash in the Attic, Welly Addicts, Downpour Abbey, Pooldark, Dripper Street, The App-Rain-Tice and Puddle Fix it
Philomena Cunk (sound emitter): "My favourite David Bowie persona has to be Prince, but obviously that act died with him"
Barry Shitpeas (alt-git) on the new version of Fawlty Towers: The Night Manager.
Magazines Charlie reads: Bubble Dweller Weekly (How to block it out), EchoChamber (You know you're right) and Elitist (the perfect flat white)
Cassetteboy remixes Ms. Jackson with Trump speeches.
Moments of Wonder: the apocalypse.

I enjoyed Brian Cox playing Cunk with a very straight bat.

Is B Cox the first Cunk interviewee who was absolutely definitely in on the joke?

In Cunk on Shakespeare (imdb) it's somewhat obvious the people she interviews, rather serious thespians, know they're part of the performance and their role.

"Haunted art gallery owner Theresa May"
...There was a lot of great stuff in this episode, but that line cost me most of a mug of tea.

"Like being sucked off through a hole" was the best part of the Cox and Cunk chat.

This year's musical meta-commentary was brilliant. The theme from Mr Noseybonk behind the section on BoJo is particularly delicious...

The Mr Noseybonk mask is on my Amazon Wish List with the statement...
"Because I love the idea of standing behind Boris Johnson wearing one of these and just being genuinely terrifying. Also need some white men's opera gloves to fully complete the look"
...so it's nice to know I'm not the only one who associates the two together.
