A filmed version of Chris Gethard's one man comedy show about suicide, depression, alcoholism, and all the other funniest parts of life.

"Gethard holds nothing back as he dives into his experiences with mental illness and psychiatry, finding hope in the strangest places."

NPR's Monkey See blog: "The special is very funny, very often, but it's also direct and emotionally bracing, unafraid of the obvious importance of these conversations. It can be hard to accomplish dark humor without glibness; this is a very good example of how to do it."

New York Times review of the stage version from fall 2016

NPR Fresh Air interview with Gethard

Chris Gethard previously on the blue:
Beautiful/Anonymous
The most bizarre and often saddest talk show in New York City
No one owes you anything.

Oh, I never commented on this post.

So hey, this special is the reason I'm still alive. It came out during the worst part of the multi-year major depressive episode I've been going through. I didn't feel alone when I watched it. I felt like someone understood me, even for a moment. It's just really, really good. I've lost count of how many times I've watched it. I've lost count of how many times it's made me cry.

I love Chris Gethard. I love this special. And I still love Morrissey, even though he's a dick.
