You guys inspired me to rewatch and pause so I could read all the "split second jokes".
My fav was Diane's email. nguyenistheloneliestnumber@aol.com and the author info on the back of her book: "Diane currently lives in Los Angeles with a dog."
So, who's going to try emailing it and see what happens?

It stunned me that pretty much every single thing in the background (the TV with MSNBSea? Turtle guy?) is a Thing from later. It really is worth treating this less as a serial and more as just one long story that just happens to be broken into half-hour chunks.

On rewatch, I can confidently say that my "problem" with not being grabbed immediately was due entirely to misplaced expectations. If you know where it's going, it's perfectly strong out of the gate.

Since the thread on the blue is closed, my girlfriend and I binged this over 4-5 days.
Damn good. I was hooked after the first episode or 2. I too thought Todd's character was a little one-dimensional, especially early in the season, but .
I'm looking forward to season 2 where I'd expect more focus on Todd and his backstory (why he is staying there).
I really need to watch this again to focus more on the story.

What you really want is a four and an half minute version of the show's theme song. I didn't know I wanted it until I could have it, and then I decided I needed to ruin its life. HERE TAKE IT... no give it back!

So nobody is weirded out that a white woman is voicing a POC?
