A lot of throwbacks in this episode, but also a change of pace.

The revelations in the most recent finale actually do seem like they are going to alter the course and tone of the narrative.

The characters are acknowledging just how weird everything is. The dog park is not a dog park. Cats don't float (but this one does). Cecil and Carlos are spending more time together. The tiny city beneath the Desert Flower Bowling Alley and Arcade Fun Complex is gone. There was no crisis. No sudden cut to the weather. There is now a Double Secret Police force. Steve and Cecil are BFFs now.
