Brooklyn Nine-Nine: The Big House, Pt. 2
October 5, 2017 6:48 AM - Season 5, Episode 2 - Subscribe
Official FOX synopsis: "When the warden (guest star Toby Huss) asks Jake to investigate Romero’s (guest star Lou Diamond Phillips) drug smuggling operation, Jake and Caleb (guest star Tim Meadows) find themselves caught between the loyalty Jake has sworn to both of them. Meanwhile, Amy is offered a deal by a local mobster who claims he can prove that Hawkins (guest star Gina Gershon) is guilty, but Holt and the rest of the gang think they have a safer plan."
I've uncomfortably loved every second of Tim Meadows's appearance (I find it so very 2017 that I've been delighted by a child-eating cannibal), and I hope the show goes to contortionist lengths to justify bringing him in again as a guest star at any point in the future.
Holt taking the metaphorical bullet and allowing himself to become corrupted and compromised for the sake of Amy and Jake and Rosa OMG. :( I am really sad about this, but I'm looking forward to seeing where the show goes with it.
And I'm eagerly awaiting Gina's return from maternity leave!

I totally didn't notice Gina's absence! Maybe that's why these episodes felt so refreshingly dark, interesting & real-ish, without the need for Gina's painfully unfunny nonsense.

For some reason, I had it in my head that the "Big House" arc was going to be three episodes just like last year's "Coral Palms" opener, so I was surprised when things wrapped up so quickly. OR DID THEY?
Only two regrets about the past two episodes:
-- That we didn't get more of Rosa adjusting to prison life outside of the visiting-hours stuff in the episode b-plots. Then again, they might have been cautious of doing something that felt too much like a retread of Amy's undercover stint from last season.
-- That Boyle's "Serial" podcast wasn't made into a real thing that we could have listened to during the summer hiatus. Come to think of it, this would be an amazing thing to have for all sorts of shows. Earwolf and Nerdist need to get on this!

i really liked these two premiere episodes. I hope Caleb comes back somehow. I'm also dreading how Captain Holt will have to deal with Seamus later.
So excited!
