This episode felt really plotty, and yet insubstantial at the same time: a lot of things were set in motion without giving us anything real for the characters to chew on. Even the scene in Candy's apartment seemed more mechanical than emotional.

And I'm still not buying Vincent as the unwitting mafia front man. The "why me?" conceit feels contrived. If he's too dumb to figure out "why me," he's probably too dumb to be of any use (unlike Big Mike!).

Also, I would kill to have Candy's kitchen in my house right now. That was a mid-century masterpiece.

There's a set of "TV trays" in her apartment, we had one almost identical when I was growing up. Little fold-up tables so you could sit on the couch and eat dinner while watching TV. I always love spotting period stuff I'm familiar with!

So the Mafia is in league with the cops to get the prostitutes off the streets and into the "massage parlors," where both the Mafia and the cops can get a cut of the profits. Squeezing out the old school pimps. And the women who do all the actual work get the same pittance as before.
