Peaky Blinders: Dangerous
December 6, 2017 3:26 PM - Season 4, Episode 4 - Subscribe

An epic gangster drama set in the lawless streets of 1920s Birmingham.

In a daring cat and mouse chase, will Tommy be outwitted by his enemies? With the return of an old friend, Tommy tries to distract himself with other pursuits.

The Peaky Blinders are lured by the Italians into a cat-and-mouse chase on the streets of Birmingham, where it becomes clear that Tommy has met his match. Trapped in Small Heath, Tommy tries to console himself with a visit from an old flame but it soon becomes clear that he can't always get what he wants.

As his factory lies idle, Tommy confronts the possibility that the Communists might win and he will be deemed a traitor to his class. Meanwhile, Changretta prepares to spring another trap.

Maybe I'm just dense, but I don't really get the impression Tommy's so hard up for profits that raising the employee wages is difficult. I initially assumed he wanted the factory workers on strike so that there were fewer people coming and going (and therefore fewer opportunities for the Italians to get in) but I guess he's just being a jerk because he can. I would think it'd be better to try to make your neighbors like their resident crime lord, Escobar-style, particularly if you're under attack from outsiders.

I like seeing Polly get back to scheming, though. She's a delight.

I agree with you tautological-- It doesn't seem like Tommy to keep wages low. I think he would identify with the workers and wouldn't want to make any more enemies.

The bit in the hospital is so sad though.
