A woman is held captive by a Software engineer in a futuristic smart house and hopes to escape by manipulating the A. I. program that controls the house.
A petty thief Julia (Maika Monroe), is kidnapped and held captive in an unknown location.
Her wardens are TAU, an advanced artificial intelligence, and its creator Alex (Ed Skrein), her masochistic and enigmatic captor.
TAU is armed with a battalion of drones and robots that automate Alex's futuristic smart house/lab. TAU's potential is only limited by its understanding of the world it exists in, but TAU is ready for more.
Julia must race against time to bridge the boundaries between man and machine, connect to TAU and win her freedom before she suffers the same fatal fate as the other subjects who came before her.

The trailer is remarkably better than the actual movie, but the trailer is actually not vey representative of the film.
Yes its that stupid.

This reads like an unintentional sequel to Center of the World.

I started watching this and had to stop. The scenes in Mr. Robot has spoiled me for "smart house goes berserk" because it was both super scary and very believable.

This was terrible. WTF Netflix? Maybe they should spend some of the reported 2 billion dollars going to originals on better scriptwriters.

I assume it doesn't have the BIZARRE FOLDING POLYGON MANIFESTATION OF DOOM that "Demon Seed" brought us.

I keep getting angry thinking about this movie. I know it's just displaced anger from actual real world problems like *political rant redacted* but come on! Netflix, make better movies! I'd so much rather you put out 3 good movies than 15 mediocre ones! You have all the money! You have access to all the production stuff! MAKE BETTER MOVIES.

I'm only about 30mn from the end, but there's only so much of bullying a baby-AI that I can take. I actually like the parts were TAU learns stuff from Julia. The negative views here makes me feel like i'm watching a different film, since i'm not watching it under the "horror" framing.
Instead, I'm watching "Nascent AI is forced to supervise and run experiments on human beings, under constant threat of death. It makes a friend in new subject, Julia, and together, they plan their escape."
