Ouija: Origin of Evil (2016)

In 1965 Los Angeles, a widowed mother and her two daughters add a new stunt to bolster their seance scam business and unwittingly invite authentic evil into their home. When the youngest daughter is overtaken by the merciless spirit, this small family confronts unthinkable fears to save her and send her possessor back to the other side. Mike Flanagan (The Haunting of Hill House) defies the odds by turning in an amazingly solid prequel to the amazingly crappy Ouija (2014).

Interestingly, the producers of the first Ouija also thought it wasn't very good. In this interview, Flanagan explains that this is why they brought him in for the followup and gave him carte blanche to do whatever he wanted.

82% of RT, by the way. I'm not kidding. This is actually pretty good.

The interview is enjoyable especially for the bit on Flanagan's pitch to the Ouija producers, in which he is basically daring them to tell him no. It'll be a period piece... about a single mom... and a priest...

I had this one on my October watchlist, only to discover that it was suddenly ripped away from HBO's streaming, and is now only available to buy digitally (not rent) for $7.99 and up. Any leads on other/cheaper ways to watch, other than finding it on disc somewhere?
