The Fix: The Fix, Season 1

I thought it did a really good job of keeping the feel of a panel show without getting gratingly American. I dunno. I can't explain how the Comedy Central version of Taskmaster felt like the comedians were too self-promoting or maybe just less self-deprecating compared to the original article. In any event, The Fix side-stepped it nicely. On the other hand, I don't _think_ it came off as too stick-up-the-ass British for most Americans?

I mean, it's still Jimmy Carr at the end of the day, if you don't like him as a presenter, you're not going to like him any better here.

I'll be interested to see how well it does. Probably not well enough to matter, but I can hope. If there was one complaint it was the fixes that played out as skits rather than just letting Katherine and D.L. sell it to the audience and other panelists.

I just hope that Jimmy Carr can pass on his panel show knowledge to Americans so we can have more panel shows.

I generally get my Brit-panel-show fix by watching WILTY & QI episodes on YouTube, so, it was a novelty getting to watch this tv-show on my actual tv.

I mean, it's still Jimmy Carr at the end of the day, if you don't like him as a presenter, you're not going to like him any better here.

I think I only like him in panel/chat show format; I tried watching one of his standup specials and didn't make it through (I forget what joke was the turn-off, just remember having a "nope" reaction to something). Anyway, I thought this was a fun show/format, and I hope they commission another season sometime.

Let's look at popular British quiz show data and figure out what Americans stream. Alright,
WILTY, 8O10C, 8O10CDC, MOTW, HIGNFY, TBFQOTXXX, and others... Jimmy Carr does a lot of hosting, we've already got him on lock for a few Netflix specials - this is shooting fish in a barrel. This gives it a fair amount of legitimacy to the audience. With this we can get one of his regulars - but David, and Jon and Sean are folks that nobody in mainstream America is going to recognize, plus we don't have standup contracts with them yet... So let's get someone very familiar with Jimmy... alright Katherine Ryan it is. Now, for the other chair, we need someone that draws in a different crowd, someone already on contract, someone that we signed early that wants out - or at least to a point where they can renegotiate their contract - ah - DL Hughley! His presence feels like that line in Jay and Silent Bob Strike back from Affleck: "You're like a child. What've I been telling you? You gotta do the safe picture. Then you can do the art picture. But then sometimes you gotta do the payback picture because your friend says you owe him." This was DL Hughley's payback picture for netflix...

As a whole, some of it was great, some was tone deaf, some of it was flat - but yeah, in all I watched it in the first two days, and have watched it twice since then.

This is in my Endless Netflix Queue (TM). I became a Jimmy Carr fan after Distraction on Comedy Central. What a hilarious show. And thanks to you MeFites, I have a new list of British quiz shows to look up on YouTube!

Watched the first two episodes and I'm really enjoying it! I love how Jimmy was audibly toning down his laugh in the first ep and had given up by the second.
