Five years ago, StartUp began chronicling the life of a fledgling Brooklyn-based podcasting company called Gimlet Media. This year, the streaming giant Spotify bought that company. In the final season of StartUp, what it's really like to sell a business.

Since the season was short, and mostly one self-contained narrative, let's do the season as one post.

I liked this season. It felt like a fitting end to the series.

I'm also left curious, because they left it out: how much did they make personally on the sale? Are they now...extremely wealthy?

Interesting. I unsubscribed after the "kidding but not kidding" American Apparel fan shows. But, this seems worth listening to. Thanks!

Here's hoping it's enough fuck you money to give the incredibly talented producers and hosts the chance to move on to something more worthy of their time.
